Student Portal and Email Now OPEN!

We are excited to announce that the Student Portal inside PCG and Student Email are now open!

From this PCG Student portal, students will be able to view grades, attendance information and TAKS scores! Students will login to PCG from the same website you go to as a teacher, http://lcisd.d2sc.com.

For student email, students will be able to have a safe and secure email address to use in your class for completing projects and interacting with you digitally! Students will login to student email by going to https://login.microsoftonline.com/.

All they need from you is their username and password…which you can learn how to get bywatching the video below!

For a hard copy, you can also download this simple Student Account Summary Report.

Should a student lock themselves out of D2SC, their account is set up to reset every night automatically, so there is no need for you to go in and enable anyone!

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to make a comment below or email me at cdjones@lcisd.org

Progress Report Day!

For many teachers Progress Report Day is coming up! To help remind you of how easy it is to mark the Progress Period closed in PCG, we created a little video for you to watch…take a look and let us know if you have any questions:

Although not covered in the video, you can also enter comments in the Comment tab from the Finalized Grade screen.

Pre-K and Kindergarten Teachers

For all of our Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers, you now have the ability to enter your progress report data in PCG as well! Check out the video below to see how you can enter that data:

But what if you are following these directions and the comments aren’t saving?! You probably have Compatibility Mode turned on in Internet Explorer and need to turn it off! Don’t know how to do that? Well, check out this post – http://icafe.lcisd.org/trouble-finalizing-try-being-a-little-less-compatible. It covers everything you need to know!
For more resources, step by step directions, and videos on using the gradebook, go to http://icafe.lcisd.org/pcg-support.

Countdown to LCISD’s D(MA) Day

It is creeping up…silently lurking…always in the back of our mind but never has it seemed so important.  Your palms are sweaty.  You have developed a nervous twitch.  You need to know…are you OK or is it a time of desperation?  It is…DMA DAY!

The DMA Day is fast approaching for our district.  Teachers must have their allotted hours of off-contract staff development completed.  Wondering if you have enough hours?  There is a fast, easy way for you to check.  Check out this video to see how!

If you are looking for some instructions written out, check out the details below.

Log into ASCEND from the PCG Main Menu.  From the  ASCEND home screen, scroll down to the area labeled “My Courses” and click on the button “View My Transcript.”

Select the "My Transcript" button

A new window will open.  You will see a list of all the staff development sessions you have attended.  Included in the information are the number of CEU (continuing education) hours you receive for each session as well as your DMA hours that have been credited.

Your LCISD Transcript

Scroll down to the bottom of the page to see your total hours for this DMA year (2011).

Your Total DMA Hours

You should allow 1-2 weeks for your DMA hours to appear after you have completed your session and taken the survey.  In the near future, if you do not complete the survey, hours will not be awarded.  To learn how to access and complete your staff development survey, click here.

If you have any questions concerning your DMA hours, please contact the staff development office at 832.223.0134 .  They will be happy to assist you!

Sorting the Semesters

Moving into a new semester at school can be so refreshing! New start for the students, new start for you…really, a new start for the entire school! Except for one thing…D2SC! D2 holds on to your first semester gradebooks, mixing them with your new second semester gradebooks, making it a little difficult to make sure you are selecting the right option when going to put in grades!

While there is a very good reason D2 holds on to your first semester gradebooks (you might need to revisit them, after all!), it can still be a bit of a pain to have to wade through all of those gradebooks and only select the second semester ones. Fortunately, there is a very simple process you can to do to move your second semester gradebooks to be all by themselves! Check out the video below for more info:

Pretty nice tip, huh? This works for any menu item in D2SC, so you can actually put a number of different options in the “My D2SC” menu section. Happy grading and please let us know if you have any questions!
